Step By Step Procedure for Updating to SuperAOSP [Videocon Zeus]

I have tried almost all available custom roms for the commtiva z51 or videocon zeus (spice mi 300 , Orange Boston variant) . For 2.2 Froyo its Android -ID by our very own Tj_style and Phantom ROM and Jellybean have been found very very stable and efficient.But we need GingerBread now. There has been no official update from FOXCONN international holdings. :)

The cyanogen team and some other individual devs or they together as a team work has been continuosly porting  the latest builds each and every day with new features and bug fixes. But we need to put a last stable release. The primary and most important concern for  every user is BATTERY LIFE and RAM MANAGEMENT. All other features like GUI looks and feel will come second.

Well I suggest SuperAOSP build. Even cyanogen Mod now comes with the superAosp kernel which has a better battery management and ram management. The most irritating issue of SD CURRUPTED/REMOVED error is first fixed by this kernel mod form Super@osp team.

Well enough with the talks and lets go to the procedure 

First As usual Back Up all the apps and data with Titanium back up or anyother program of your choice.

Dont forget to backup ur SMS with SMS Backup & Restore program.

Now for added safety we take a Nandroid backup of full ROM using our Favorite Clockworkmod 4.0.0.9

Then Copy all the SD Card contents to PC ( Yes  i reccomend making a full back up of SD card to PC)

We might do a repartition for SD Card since the SuperAosp supports App2SD-ext and SWAP very efficiently

Now that i believe you have successfully taken a full backup of all most all sensitive or important data of your present system. Now we proceed to the updation process.

Since this SuperAosp comes as a UPDATE.ZIP format you might lose the RADIO or IMEI if you are NOT updating from a STOCK FOXCONN ROM. 

So i Suggest to get these Files in hand / PC  well before you start the process 

1. Foxconn ROM 2.2  official 

2. Super AOSP 4.8 superAosp_4_8.nb0 

3. SuperAOSP 8.6  UPDATE.ZIP with AW (anti wipe means preserves your data ) 

4. Latest Kernel Fix ( not recommended since i couldnt test it and i have heard from the guy who bought my phone having terrible battery issues . Only do this if u want to do a testing )

Once update has done you might need these files to make your zues look like its Videocon official

1. Splash Img 

2. Boot animation.

#3 Someone will provide a way to edit the Phone INFO menu .

FOR THOSE WHO INTERESTED TO USE APP2SD and SWAP 

Do this before the steps Else skip to next section.

In CWM recovery > Go to advance > Partitio SDcard> 

512 mb Ext 

64mb swap

The Steps are as follows

1. Connect your phone in Download mode to pc and Update using SUTLR 

   First UPDATE with FOX OFFICIAL ROM (if your already on official rom skip this step)

2.Just as the first update is finished you can switch off the phone and again boot into Download mode

3. Now select Super Aosp 4.8 nb0  and do the update with SUTLR 

4. After update make sure you have booted the phone to normal mode and u have a valid signal (IMEI) 

5. Now you can copy the Super Aosp AW 8.6 Update.zip to memory card

6.Reboot To CWM Recovery Update using option UPDATE.ZIP 

7. Reboot the phone to see you have a valid signal (Anti Wipe was designed to save time for those who were already using superAosp before. But if you switch from CM7 or any other Custom rom you need to start all over from beginning to get a VALID SIGNAL .

If things go well make a CWM Nandroid Back up of this raw SuperAosp and you can restore it in case of emergency.

Now if you copy the Titanium Backup Folder back to the SD card and you can Restore all the apps and use the phone like you were using from before :)

Googles Android Phones Secret Codes and Hidden Settings

There're many hidden secret codes on your Android phones that can be used to accomplish certain tasks with more easy way. Those from some advanced to basic codes. Some of them do fairly basic, practical things, while others can be used to perform complete alterations, such as factory resets. Lest start from here: 

~The code *#*#4636#*#* shows the following information about your phone and battery:

    * Phone information
    * Battery information
    * Battery history
    * Usage statistics

~The *#*#7780#*#* performs a factory data reset, and will remove the following:

    * Google account settings stored in your phone
    * System and application data and settings
    * Downloaded applications

It will not remove:
    * Current system software and bundled applications
    * SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.

This one asks for a confirmation, so if you do get a chance to change your mind.

~This *2767*3855# code is used for factory format, and will remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It will also reinstall the firmware. Don’t try this one unless you’re sure.

PS: Once you give this code, there is no way to cancel the operation unless you remove the battery from the phone, and even then, you run the risk of bricking your phone.

~This *#*#34971539#*#* code is used to get information about the camera. It shows following 4 menus:
    * Update camera firmware in image (Don’t try this option)
    * Update camera firmware in SD card
    * Get camera firmware version
    * Get firmware update count

WARNING: Never use the first option otherwise your phone camera may stop working, and there is really no reason to update the camera firmware anyway.

~This  *#*#7594#*#* code will change the “End Call / Power” button action on your phone. By default, if you long press the button, it shows a screen asking you to select any option from Silent mode, Airplane mode and Power off.

You can change this action using this code. You can enable direct power off on this button so you don’t need to waste your time in selecting the option.

~This  *#*#273283*255*663282*#*#* code opens a File copy screen where you can backup your media files e.g. Images, Sound, Video and Voice memo.

~This  *#*#197328640#*#* code can be used to enter into Service mode. You can run various tests and change settings in the service mode.

~WLAN, GPS and Bluetooth Test Codes:

*#*#232339#*#* OR *#*#526#*#* OR *#*#528#*#* – WLAN test (Use “Menu” button to start various tests)

*#*#232338#*#* – Shows WiFi MAC address

Super Video Converter

Many of my friends keep on asking how to convert videos for mobile/portable devices. What software to use and how to do it. Ok fine here is the answer. This is a free ware yet very very powerful video conversion software. Its name is SUPER and is from Eritesoft.

Well i cannot possibly define how to convert or the settings since it will be different for defferent devices. Still i can guide you on how to do it.

Get your devices display resolution from google or from your user guide /service manual.
Then apply those setting on super
And then add videos to super which are supposed to be converted.
click convert and sit and watch :)/

ClockWorkMod Recovery 4.0.0.9 for Spice Mi-410

Well it was this early morning Prof Tj a.k.a Tj_style released the first working clockwork mod recovery for the Huawei X6 variants on an Indonesian forum.( Kaskus.us ) This is a first beta release as more or many of the functions are not implemented fully. This information was received from FreeRadical who earlier made a detailed workaround for rooting virtually any andorid phone.

I myself have tested the clockwork recovery and its working in a limited way.

Version is based on Clockwork mod recovery 4.0.0.9

What's Working:

• Backup
• Restore
• Install From Zip

What's Not Working:

• ADB
• USB Mount

Installation:

• Download, extract file recovery.img from cwm-recovery-fb0-v1.zip
• Connect mi-410 to PC in Download Mode (keep pressing vol up and power on)
• You will find a new USB-Storage drive possibly named FIH,
• Replace file recovery.img in the folder named image
• Disconnect USB From PC
• Disconnect mi-410 USB cable and reboot to recovery ( VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER ON)

This time i wanted to intro to you some good really good apps that will always be worth to have in your android powered phone.

Titanium Backup Pro

This one needs ROOT access.But once your rooted and installed Titanium backup it saves a lot of your time and bandwidth. How ?? Titanium backup can back up all your Installed apps and their Data too.

which means when ever you format or reinstall or upgrade your phone ,you dont have to go to market and redownload all those apps. For example if your browser is restored you have the option to restore the DATA part too that means the settings , bookmark and preference  that you already saved when you backed up last time.saves a lot of time.The PRO version is a paid app but trust me its worth. It can does all these with super fast speed using HYPER SHELL .so go to market and try out the free version .

Pulse Reader

As you all know we guys have to read and keep updated to the new happenings in technology world and its a big task for me always to go type in all the web address and read all of them one by one. If i had to do this i might be reading 40 plus sites daily and that will be a big headache. There will be good news or articles that i wish to share with other friends having similar interest. So to do all these with ease and accuracy with a less data sacrificed and organised in a better or best way. Well thats the Pulse Reader does.                                         

Dolphin Browser HD

I was a great fan of Netfront when using nokia S60V3 phones then OPERA when using symbian s60v5 phones.Then eventually the chinese UC browsers took over symbians best browsing experience. The UC browser 7.8 for android is really fast and stable. But somehow i like the Dolphin Browser HD. Why ???. Dolphin browse has very optimised way of rendering pages even on EDGE/2G networks.It has speacial add on plugins available.(i use the translate plugin) Tab browsing and it feels like you are really using a Computer and not a phone. Dolphin browse has special gesture feature,which help you easily bookmark ,navigate while browsing.And above all the best feature is a good download manager. still UC is best at this.

SMS backup & Restore.

A really useful and ultra fast app that helps to back up all the message threads in your android device. The best part is when restoring it helps to add up to the existing thread. Another feature is its in built DUPLICATE CHECKING while restoring. This feature helps not to create duplicate sms entries.The back up format is in .xml and this can be found in the SDcard sms backup restore folder. The size of the .xml will be so small that you can manually attach and upload it to your mail or online. Another noticable feature of this app is with out restoring you can look into or read an existing baked up xml file and see the messages. :)

India Rail Info.

This perticular app was very helpful in many situations and gained me a lot of praise!!. This app helps to find out the status, time, number, arrival /departure of Trains running under Indian Railway. This has feature to find out the Fare also. This is really useful for anyone who has someone who atleast use Indian railway sometime in his life :) . Very light weight app (size in kb) 

Mobile Number Tracker.

This app helps to track /trace the network circle from which you are getting the phone call.So when your phone rings it will show from which circle the call is coming.I found it very useful.But with the recent Mobile Number Portability the accuracy on ported number is not good.still it helps to find out /surprise friends :)

This is one best app which is free and does its job wonderfully well.Yes its a video player with  a nice GUI and does play almost all the formats. Best idea of on screen controls. options to show hide Hidden files.and a lot more.

I Simply Cant Understand !! Why ??

All these days i never even bothered about getting or even checking an Iphone 4 even when
few (4) of my friends uses it and i had easy access to it. Cos i simply didnt get
fasinated abt it...recently arguements/debates was going in on deep n day by day i find
its a crApple Iphone !! there are far better phones on market !! its simply like bit*hes
going after the rich dumb dude in your locality !!! all money n style but no quality !!


Well that was on my mind and it was my FB status for a moment. It all started with immense
curiosity on why ppl boast on apple products without knowing or really respecting the
actual PRODUCT simply sees it as a matter of pride(Fools Gold ) ( suddenly diamonds came
to my mind..it says they burn those in the mines just to keep the demand high in the
markets !!!)

Well its not a usuall i-hate speech again its just some info sharing to those few i-
Friends-of mine who uses Iphone :P
well its a great INNOVATION (once !! but now with so many better products available its
just a Great marketed product alone) but sure a trend setter
the main area ppl boast off is RETINA DISPLAY !! whts it ? anyone ? simply a qHD LCD
screen !! (960x540) quarter of a HD !! since size (area is small 3.6" diagonal it has 330
pixel density ?? what ?? that simply means if ever crAPPLE try to make a screen like
Galaxy S 2 4.3" the pixel density will come down to 270 !! to be honest you would never
even understand the difference with normal eyes !! but its all psychological !! Get well
soon bros n iLadies :P

About the processor and ram ?? A4 chip ?? what ?? its simply "1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8
processor, PowerVR SGX535GPU" lots of phones has it which is much better ... my spice MI
410 (motorola triumph) has better one "1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm
MSM8255 Snapdragon" ..last night i Over clocked it to 2Ghz and still worked like a charm
!! btw both crAPPLE n mine has only 512 MB RAM !!! so next time you put ur 35k on a phone
think again ?? you could actually buy two or three phones of same or even better specs !!
and after all these looting your company gives you only this much ?? shame !! imagine
spice taking 20k more for my same product what kind of TREATMENT they would have given to
its customer ? and Funny thing is like many my friend are not using a genuine apple phone
bought from iStore its JAIL BREAKED !! its like stolen good for APPLE ..so dont talk to me
about crAPPLE !!!

 But sure the man behind these and the marketter!! behind this simply proved its so easy
to move products to the masses simply by BOASTING of and PUTTING a striking NAME ( retina
display , A4 chip, Iphone ) ...now Icloud ?lol who actually know whats cloud computing ?
do you know Chrome OS ? how it works ? ok leave it.. For those INDIANS who boast about
APPLE understand for anything in Cloud to work you need a FASTER DATA CONNECTION ? what ?
( your GPRS /3G /WIFI ) :P these has different speed though !! you need the max to get the
MAX out of it .. in INDIA 3G came last quarter n still its expensive ... IPHONE ?? hehe

One of my friend asked will you get updates for older ANDROID phones as new OS Versions
comes out !!! Yes MOST OF THE PHONES .. it depends on two things DEVOLOPERS working on it
AND how many ppl are in NEED OF A PORT (DEMAND) ... MIND IT and its done for free !!!
which means EVEN G1 the first google android phone has a Gingerbread 2.3 running on it
still !!! what else you need ?? Just keep in mind that DEMAND is important for any one who
working on FREE basis out of INTEREST he wants MOST of the PPL to have the benefit.now my
turn CAN APPLE IPHONE 2G run IOS 5 ? or IOS 4 ? the company taken so much from you and
dont release SOURCE or SUPPORT !! so buying a MARUTI ALTO Legally and driving it on indian
roads...with pleasure is way better than Sitting IN A STOLEN Merc n teasing him !! lol :P

were called as a SMARTPHONE and HTC had WINDOWS PHONES no one bothered !! Samsung/Sony had SYMBIAN no one bothered !! now i guess I KNOW WHY NOKIA wanted to STAY OUT !! but i really believe the ONE NOKIA N9 PHONE IS ENOUGH TO SHOW THE WORLD HOW MEEGO would have GROWN
